Safety Guidelines

Safe Flying Is No Accident

The above statement used to be motto of the British Model Flying Association. I see no reason why we shouldn't use it instead.

Every member is duty bound to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner on the flying field. In the same way the "Health and Safety at work act" makes everyone liable for their actions with respect to themselves as well as others, all pilots who fly with XClent are requested to adopt a similar attitude.

We have had a good safety record up until now, whether it's more by luck than judgment?, and we should continue in this manner.

The Winch/Tow Technical manual is there for our safety and we as a club will follow it's guidelines. There will always be a difference of opinion as to how to go about any business, but since our insurance relies on compliance with BHPA rules and regulations we are in no position to break them.

Then there's the issue of the Air Navigation Order which takes precedence over everything else and has a rule for just about everything.

I hope to be able to reproduce the technical manual here for all to read. So watch this space, live and learn.
