Flying Rules

1. A daily charge of £5 will be charged per member per flying day, irrespective of how many flights that member has that day. This pays the Winchmans wages and fuel. Non payment will be recorded in the manifest and will be paid before any flying is done on subsequent days. The manifest of the previous days flying will be available to cross check this.

2. A helmet queue will operate and will for all intents and purposes be self regulating. Queue jumping will not be tolerated except in exceptional circumstances, e.g. pilot returning from a retrieve drive or launch marshal wanting a flight.

3. The next pilot in the queue is expected to be dressed and ready, with his/her glider laid out as soon as practicable, and concentrating on pre-launch equipment checks.

4. No pressure shall be put on the pilot clipping in to speed up his/her departure. The launch marshal should act as a buffer for information being directed to the clipping in pilot. This is especially important for Tandem pilots since they are under an obligation of duty of care to their passenger.

5. The launch marshal should check the readiness of the launching pilot for completed pre-flight checks.

6. The same words and signals for our few standard procedures and actions will be used. Upon commencement of waving of the Bat, the words "take up slack" will be transmitted. If the launch is to be aborted, the words "Stop Stop Stop" will be transmitted. No other verbal instructions will be allowed until either the launch is well underway and in the control of the winchdriver or the Bat has been held up stationary and the "Stop Stop Stop" instruction has been transmitted.

7. Non member conversion pilots will get an equal chance in the helmet queue. It's up to the members to stand down during non thermic hours and allow them to speed up their training.

8. The Senior Tow Coach will have the power to ground pilots for non conforming or inappropriate behaviour. If the Senior Tow Coach is not on the field, the duty Tow Coach will be empowered in his absence.

9. The members present will respect the decisions made by the duty Tow Coach.

10. The manifest will be kept up-to-date by the duty Tow Coach

11. Certain committee members will ask for volunteers to join a rota for the following actions:-
i. Get winch and bike to and from the barn.
ii. Check the weather and take phone calls to declare a flyable or non flyable day.
iii. Get tow coach rated and help run the club.
